Finally, some good news! The State of California is allowing gyms to reopen on Friday, June 12, 2020!
We have been waiting to see if the City of LA was going to issue county specific guidelines that might affect our reopening but at this time they have not, so we feel comfortable proceeding.
So, without any further delay, we are happy to announce we will be open during our normal operating hours beginning at 5:00AM June 12th.
We can’t wait to welcome all of you back! As anticipated, things will be operating differently than before the shutdown. Because all of this is new for everybody, we are asking for your cooperation and patience while we make adjustments and fine tune the plan for our particular space.
Here is what we know so far. The State Guidelines indicate key prevention practices for fitness centers include:
Physical distancing to the maximum extent possible.
Use of face coverings by employees and all fitness facility patrons,
Frequent handwashing and regular cleaning and disinfection,
Sanitizing all equipment, mats, etc. before and after use
Let’s expand on those topics a bit as they pertain to Ultra Body Fitness:
Physical Distancing, Gym Access & Illness
Physical distancing to the maximum extent possible ~ At UBF there will be no training on adjacent equipment. Spacing ourselves out to every other machine, bench etc. and respecting the 6’ minimum for floor exercises is mandatory during this phase of the reopening. One person at a time in restrooms and changing rooms.
Gym Access ~ We are asking trainers and clients to please enter the gym through the front door on La Brea and exit through alley door in the Cryo/Boxing room. On the upside, we have been able to get the alley repaved and cleaned up during the lockdown. Exit through the front door is acceptable as long as social distancing is maintained.
Illness ~ If you are sick stay home. If you arrive at the gym and appear ill you will be asked to leave.
Face Coverings, Temperature Screening & COVID-19 Testing
Face Coverings ~ At this phase of the reopening they are mandatory. Everyone in the gym wears a mask that they must provide for themselves. No exceptions.
NOTE: WE HAVE A VERY LIMITED SUPPLY OF MASKS AVAILABLE FOR TRAINERS AND CLIENTS TO PURCHASE. We ordered a large supply of masks mid-March but they have been delayed as PPE delivery for frontline workers has taken priority. We expect them soon.
Per the State guidelines, it is acceptable for the client to drop their mask during their set/reps as long as safe social distancing is maintained, and the trainer is wearing their mask and ensuring safe social distancing. Please use common sense and respect others training near you if you decide to drop your mask for your set.
Temperature Screening ~ Per the guidelines, we have a medical grade contactless thermometer at the reception counter to check everyone’s temperature as they enter the gym if they were not able to self-screen at home.
Hand Washing, Sanitizing & Cleaning
Hand Washing~ We cannot overemphasize the importance of frequent handwashing with soap and water, including scrubbing with soap for 20 seconds (or using hand sanitizer with at least 60% ethanol (preferred) or 70% isopropanol (if the product is inaccessible to unsupervised children) when you cannot get to a sink or handwashing station, per CDC Guidelines) https://www.cdc.gov/handwashing/hand-sanitizer-use.html .
Cleaning ~ The gym is cleaned daily. Bathrooms and changing rooms are cleaned regularly throughout the day. Please let us know if you see something that needs attention.
Sanitizing ~ Trainers are responsible for sanitizing all equipment, mats, etc. before and after use. We will be strictly enforcing this rule.
Contactless Entry, Appointment Scheduling & Loitering
Contactless Entry~ We have added a contactless feature to our entry system. Trainers and clients can use an app on their mobile phones that will allow them to sign in and unlock the gate simply by waving your phone in front of an Infrared scanner beside the turnstile keypad.
Download and launch the app. You can download the app using the links provided at the bottom of this message > Club Systems My Member Mobile App.
To configure the app, you will need your member number which is 7u- followed by your mobile number. For example: 7u-3235551212
Complete the New Members section by entering your member number and selecting a password, etc.
If you have any trouble setting up the app we can help you at the front counter when you check in.
Appointment Scheduling~ We have been developing a new contactless scheduling system but it is not ready to deploy yet. In the meantime, we will still be using the system that was in place prior to the shutdown.
We will be sanitizing the terminals regularly throughout the day. Sanitizing screen and keyboard wipes will be provided by each terminal as well. As always, our staff is happy to handle the calendar entries for you if you are not comfortable using the shared terminals.
Additionally, our Weekly, Monthly and Staff trainers are welcome to submit their session lists to us via email if while we are getting the new system up and running.
Daily / walk-in trainers are required to use the terminals or ask the staff for assistance to log their sessions prior to entry.
Loitering~ If you are not training a client or yourself please leave the gym until your next session so we can reduce the number of people in close proximity and maximize safe social distancing. We like you and enjoy hanging with you but for the near future we need to limit capacity.
The front waiting area can only accommodate 2 people socially distanced at this time. Specifically, one person by the aquarium and one person in front of the treadmills.
The café table outside the front door will be available too.
No eating inside the gym except for in the break room.
One person at a time in the break room. Please not staff will need to access the room throughout the day so you might be displaced from time to time. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience.
It’s hard to believe that after 80+ days we will finally be to gather as we all work to get stronger.
